Strange Talk Show 《怪談》

on I-Cable TV channel

Hong Kong

Show Topic: Strange Encounters,

Hosts: Spencer Leung Sze Ho 梁思浩 & Sammie Yu See Man 余思敏, Rachel Chan 陳曉華

This show started in 1996 and has been the most successful Paranormal show to date. Not only is it well known in Hong Kong but now worldwide. The show consists of 3 parts. The first part shows footage of clips filmed in different locations. The crew have been to many Haunted location's in Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan and presently in Japan. The brave crew have caught strange and unexplainable footage on camera in recent years and have had different experiences.

Not only is this show exciting and scary at the same time but it also allows viewers to get involved.

During the second part of the show Spencer and Sammie talk to medium's and Professionals who know all about the spiritual world and give tips and advice. The last part of the show let's viewers call in by phone to talk about strange experiences and how to handle problems. Since last year they have started to get fan's of the show involved by inviting them to send in their paranormal photographs and footage taken on camera.

This show surely is entertaining and even if you don't beleive in the paranormal you will still be entertained.

i liked the past versions from 2006 to the first half of 2007

but i think recent quality had dropped..

its not as interesting as the before episodes.. instead of showing ghosts..there were more discussions about ghosts..which keep on repeating frequently

Guai tan is a show that talks about the unexplainable; a group of ppl go to various parts of Asia to film haunted areas. I always thought that these types of shows were interesting. Anyhow, lately, this show has gotten crappy. I don't know why this TV show doesn't use upgraded equipment. Their sound/audio sucks, the way they film things aren't great, and the "sifu" isn't that bright either. You can't even tell if they catch things sometimes. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching Blair Witch. And some of the things that they claim to have caught, doesn't look like anything. Oh, and the callers who claim that they see "ghosts" during the show's airing, it's just an illusion of where the camera is focused on, sort of like the 3D paintings. If you look at the 3D paintings a specific way, a 3D image will come out. Anyway. At least Ghost Hunters (on the Discovery Channel) have better footage. They also try to use "science" to debunk things.

tt

Also, sometimes those "live calls" suck too. The ppl rant and rant and waste time. It's like "one time at band camp" type stories. Hella boring.

Ok, so does anyone else watch this show? Do you believe in the stories they have shown even though nothing has been caught on tape?

I have heard of it but It is very boring. The Discovery Channel one is more interesting because they always leave me with an impression :P Although I don't believe in any of the stuff they're staying, I'd prefer the disocvery channel one over the Guai Tan.

I don't have cable, so I can't watch Ghost Hunters. I catch what I can on youtube. You're correct abt Guaitan, it got very boring. The show has been going down hill since a few months ago. Their "hunting" is now abt 10-15 min clip now. (Ho-hum). Then they talk abt "police scary stories" (5 mins worth) and the rest is caller crap. I think Ghost Hunters should go to Asia. =)

I agree that the quality of Strange Talk had gone donehill because there is rarely anything spooky or exciting. I watched the latest episode and they went to this place that was supposed to have some kind of snake creature living there lol. Anyways, they showed mostly the crew getting handcuffed by the Phillipino Police. They shouldn't have shown those clips as it wasted alot of time.

One of the best clips of the show was a few years ago when they went to Taiwan's shopping mall, that had a fire many years ago. You could hear dogs barking, but they were invisable, and I saw a few ghost sighting within those clips. :67:

Aiya, this show... almost the exact same as that "Are You Afraid of the Dark" series that used to run on TV when I was a kid. :76:

The contents of Guai Tan and Are You Afraid of the Dark is different, I know, but I think they're both just something scary for children and faint hearted adults to watch when they want to watch something "thrilling" on TV. Some of the things that they show are kind of blown out of proportion, so I believe that a lot of the stories and experiences on this show are faked just to get the scare factor in.

i never watched this show continuously but i remember i got a nightmare after watching this one eps about a "water ghost" and they said that they caught a picture of a "water ghost" under the bridge or something and the picture is freakie...LOL and they said that there was an accident there thats why the news reporter took that picture and when the pictures developed, the "water ghost" was hiding under the bridge smiling or something~ SCARY!!!!!
