Synopsis

The story takes place during the reign of Hong Taiji, the founder of Qing dynasty. He formed military alliances by marrying the daughters of Mongol and Manchu clans. He first married Jerger of Khorchin Mongols and made her his primary wife. Then, he renewed their alliance by marrying her niece Dayu'er. However, it was Dayu’ers low status half-sister, Harjol, he favored above the rest. His favoritism caused a rift between the women. Dayu'er formed a secret alliance with his brother Dorgon to place her son on the throne over his elder sons and brothers.

I should've thought this was a pretty good drama but a wrong choice for a female lead. I don't know who to root for!

Too many of these series like this one that show in China. I watched a little and watched close to the ending part. This is enough for me. Same story line, women fight for their only man or fight for power.

The costume is beautiful and the setting but I felt the plot is a bit lacking. I enjoy Ada's character the most. Her acting is super! I do like Zhang Meng as an actress but her character is lacking development so far. Same goes with Hawick, like him as an actor but I did not like his character. I am only up to episode 7, it may get better later? Anyway, maybe i will finish it in the future but I was a bit disappointed with the storyline.

Excellent drama. The story lead you to experience the high and low emotions. It tells the complicated lives led by the people in the palace, and the danger of love can lead to destruction.

Am watching this drama now and all I've got to say is that Hawick Lau does not know how to act as an emperor. In each frame, he has the same facial expressions; so wooden. He is only popular because China likes "good looking" guys but he isn't even that good looking to begin with. And his acting is just really disappointing.
