Gas from Tseung Kwan O landfill will be turned into coal gas

Developing For six major industries is this year's focus for the Government. In order to avoid further climate warming, the Government has commenced the first step to reduce energy use, but there's still much room for improvement in the planning and energy consumption and other areas; and renewable energy projects, including converting landfill gas into coal gas and the use of garbage incineration for power generation, is important to direct and promote for the environmental conservation industry. Towngas Company plans to set up factories in the Tseung Kwan O landfill to convert gas emitted from undisposable garbages such as methane gas into biofuel and Towngas company has entered its final stage of negotiation with the Government for this project. The total planned investment of this project will be more than 5 billion dollars and the biofuel will be converted into coal gas to Towngas customers, and this new line is expected to account for five percent of the total supply of gas.

In the future, the Government will actively explore other renewable energy projects, the public and enterprises will also have to work to reduce environmental pollution.

This project can save 250 million expenditure annually for Towngas and this savings can be expected to return to 90000 families in Tseung Kwan O for which each household can save 1100 dollars annually on gas bills .

It a huge project and if things go according to plans than it's be great. HK, every piece of land that you can get and use is money in the bag.

HK is becoming more and more environmentally friendly. Hope the other countries would follow in their footsteps soon.

It's HK's first step towards the environmental field. But more needs to be done (look at how many cans and tetra paks I had to throw out during my stay there).

It's awesome.

lead by example. even a HK, well-known (by now) about how wasteful it can be, is becoming more environmentally.

other countries, like aus, who don't invest so much in renewable energy should take a look.

Its actually a good idea to convert to biofuel since it runs on D engines and produces less emissions!
