After leaving Haven of Hope Hospital, via a pedestrian subway, a woman was head bashed like mad by three thieves with an umbrella. She was bleeding from the head while twenty dollars and a cellphone was snatched from her. After the robbers got the loot, they then escaped, and the injured woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Injured woman was Chow × Na (37 years old), and she had no serious body injury after being sent to hospital. Crime happened on Po Hong Road, Tseung Kwan O, in front of a pedestrian tunnel that was across from the Haven of Hope Hospital. The tunnel was about 10 meters in length, and a lot of people went through this tunnel to go between the hospital and Sheung Tak Estate, Po Ming Court and other courts which were nearby. Because of the remote location, more flow of people usually only happened during the period hospital staff went to and after work or hospital visits period, otherwise there were only a few people.

According to sources, police initially suspected that the culprits lingered at the hospital in advance, and would follow the person once they saw one citizen walking by oneself to commit crime. A hospital staff describing the tunnel is black spot for crime, to which a hospital employee who cycled to work, parked his bicycle outside the tunnel on the cascading stairs, and the result being the bike got stolen; some people were also stopped by thieves and robbed, so hospital employees usually avoided walking alone, instead walking together with colleagues to make themselves safe. However, some visitors did not know about the situation, resulting in an easy prey for robbers.

Yesterday at 12:31pm, female victim Chow left Haven of Hope Hospital walking along the hospital gate down to the tunnel alone, but shortly after walking in the tunnel, a trio suddenly appeared, of which one of them was a lean man wearing cap holding an umbrella who started to bash her in frenzy until blood covered her face, after which the thieves reached out to snatch things; Chow unwilling to lose her things so she fought back struggling with the culprits, but she was outnumbered, and was even pushed down to ground suffering injuries .After the culprits snatched away her handbag, they managed to escape to the direction of Sheung Tak Estate. Chow shouted for help afterward, and shouting alerted nearby passersby who called the police. Because Chow suffered injury in the head, left arm and right knee, she was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital by ambulance for treatment, fortunately the injuries were not serious; by counting her loss, she had identity cards, a mobile phone and twenty dollars in cash and so on missing.

The height of the 3 culprits were about five feet five inches and five feet seven inches, and police officers found no one by this measure in the vicinity, but only seized a broken umbrella and suspected it to be involved in the case as weapon used by criminals; also police found a beanie and a letter which believed to be belonging to Chow. Since the hospital gate security booth was equipped with closed circuit television monitoring systems, the police later took away video tapes who hoped to obtain the robbers appearances to help solve the case.

Wow.... if it's well known for crimes, they should really do something about that tunnel... ie, post up a sign, better lighting, increase police presence in the area. Only question is, why wasn't she brought to the Haven of Hope hospital that was right there? O.o

People shouldn't commit crimes like this, but instead they should work to earn and save up to get what they want to get. Hard work leads to great rewards. Hope the thieves get caught and punished for this type of crime.
