Lawrence Yu, Chairman of Road Safety Campaign Committee, says that Committee will strengthen the consequences of drink driving in new publicity tactics by conducting a research on leaving wreckage of drunk driving car acccident on display on the highway or in front of tunnels in order to alert drivers not to drunk driving. The Committee also considers playing longer time length of education films.

Lawrence Yu says after the meeting that the Committee will study the result of putting drunk driving accident wreckage on display in front of tunnel or on the highway to alert drivers not to drink driving; and step up education publicity of the consequences of drink driving. He says publicity methods is conservative in the past, but Committee will not follow the example of foreign countries in playing bloody scenes in films because Hong Kong has its own drunk driving law "should go its own way." He says that Committee will also allocate funds for schools to promote education to caution the younger generation against drunk driving and hopes to stengthen coordination with the 18 District Councils in their education campaigns.

Earlier opinions have voiced out whether there was a possibility of adding warnings such as phrases or symbols on beer cans just as warnings on cigarette packets, to which Lawrence Yu responds that there are difficulties in legislation, and they must discuss with professional to research on topic.

Ppl should drive at a low M.P.H because slowing down is better than driving crazy.

If you drink, then don't drive. Instead let someone who is sober take you home.
